Norfolk State University welcomes fans back to campus for Homecoming and the Spartans’ football game at William “Dick” Price Stadium.
Homecoming brings increased traffic, pedestrian activity and changes to normal game day operations. Fans are strongly encouraged to review the information below and plan ahead before arriving on campus.
A TICKET IS REQUIRED TO ENTER CAMPUS
Every person entering campus on game day must have a valid game ticket.
- NO TICKET – NO ENTRY.
- All entry is through designated perimeter gates with security screening.
- Guests may be subject to metal detector screening.
- A parking pass, tailgate permit, wristband or NSU decal is not a game ticket and does not grant campus entry on its own.
- The Box Office is closed on game day. Fans are strongly encouraged to purchase tickets in advance.
- Tickets may be purchased Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m. at the Norfolk State Box Office or 24 hours a day online at NSUSpartanTickets.com.
- All items are subject to search when entering campus.
- The Clear Bag Policy will be strictly enforced when entering William “Dick” Price Stadium.

HOMECOMING WRISTBAND PICKUP
Homecoming wristbands are being distributed in advance to help speed up entry through the exterior campus gates on Saturday.
Thursday – Students Only
Pickup Locations and Times:
- 9 a.m.–11 a.m. – Echols Memorial Hall (Basketball Arena)
- 11 a.m.–6 p.m. – Student Center
- 6 p.m.–8 p.m. – Gill Gymnasium (Volleyball Arena)
Friday – Homecoming Football Ticket Holders
Pickup Locations and Times:
- 9 a.m.–11 a.m. – Echols Memorial Hall (Basketball Arena)
- 11 a.m.–6 p.m. – Student Center
- 6 p.m.–8 p.m. – Gill Gymnasium (Volleyball Arena)
Important Wristband Reminders
- All students MUST have a wristband to enter the exterior gates and campus on Saturday.
- For non-student fans, a wristband is not required to attend Saturday’s game. Wristbands are available strictly to help you get through the outside campus gates faster on game day.
- Fans without wristbands may still enter campus with a valid game ticket through the regular entry process.
- You must have a valid football game ticket to receive a wristband.
- One person, one ticket, one wristband.
- Individuals may not pick up wristbands for family members, friends or other guests.
- Wristbands are not needed for the tailgate area. They are only used to help you get through the outside campus gates faster on game day.
HOMECOMING PARKING – ON-CAMPUS PARKING SOLD OUT
No parking passes will be available for purchase during Homecoming week.
- Fans who do not already have an on-campus parking credential should utilize the auxiliary parking locations listed below.
- Fans who have already purchased or received an on-campus parking credential should have it displayed and ready when approaching campus.
- Due to the Homecoming Parade and associated street closures, Gate 8 will be the only point of entry for general on-campus parking on Saturday until 11:30 a.m.
- Fans should allow additional time to reach campus and follow all posted signage and directions from law enforcement and event personnel.
- Parking remains restricted in nearby neighborhoods. Please observe all posted “No Parking” signs. Ticketing and towing will be enforced.
A parking credential does not provide campus admission. Every person entering campus must also have a valid game ticket.
TAILGATING
A valid Norfolk State tailgate permit is required to tailgate on campus.
- NO TAILGATE PERMIT – NO TAILGATING.
- Unauthorized tailgating is not permitted anywhere on campus.
- Fans with valid tailgating passes may enter campus through Gate 1 from the direction of Brambleton Avenue.
- A game ticket, parking credential or Homecoming wristband does not serve as a tailgate permit.
- Wristbands are not needed for the tailgate area. They are only used to help you get through the outside campus gates faster on game day.
- Tailgating is permitted only in designated areas for guests with the appropriate credentials.
HOMECOMING PARADE & STREET CLOSURES
Several streets surrounding Norfolk State University will be closed or impacted by the Homecoming Parade.
Closures will affect the following areas:
- Virginia Beach Boulevard at Park Avenue
- Merrimac Avenue to Corprew Avenue
- Corprew Avenue to Park Avenue
These closures will impact normal routes to campus and game day parking areas.
Fans should expect significant traffic congestion and are strongly encouraged to arrive early.
ADDITIONAL PARKING & TRANSPORTATION
With no on-campus parking available, fans who do not already have a Norfolk State parking credential should plan to use the available auxiliary parking and public transportation options.
MacArthur Center Parking
MacArthur Center South and North Garages are available for game patrons.
Buses will queue at the MacArthur South Garage to shuttle fans toward the stadium area.
The Tide Light Rail
The Tide light rail provides service between downtown Norfolk and stations near Norfolk State.
The closest stations to the stadium are:
- NSU Station – for guests traveling from the west
- Ballentine/Broad Creek Station – for guests traveling from the east
Fans should check current Hampton Roads Transit schedules before traveling.
Free Park-and-Ride Locations
- Newtown Road Station – Newtown Road and Kempsville Road
- Military Highway Station – Curlew Drive and Corporate Boulevard
- EVMC/Fort Norfolk Station – Saturday games only
Do Not Park at These Locations
- The Brambleton Center – 909 Marshall Ave.
- Phyllis Wheatley Hall – 927 Park Ave.
- 1500 E. Olney Road and adjacent parcels
STADIUM ENTRY & CLEAR BAG POLICY
The Norfolk State University Clear Bag Policy will be in effect for the Homecoming football game.
Fans should:
- Have their mobile or printed ticket ready before approaching the stadium.
- Allow additional time for security screening.
- Bring only approved bags into the stadium.
- Leave non-approved bags and other prohibited items in their vehicles or at their tailgating location.

PLAN AHEAD FOR HOMECOMING
Homecoming is one of Norfolk State’s busiest weekends of the year. Fans are encouraged to:
- Purchase game tickets before Saturday.
- Remember that no on-campus parking is available and use the auxiliary parking options if you do not already have a parking credential.
- Students must obtain a wristband for campus entry on Saturday.
- Non-student fans may pick up a wristband to expedite entry, but a wristband is not required to attend the game.
- Remember that wristbands are not needed for the tailgate area. They are only used to help you get through the outside campus gates faster on game day.
- Fans with tailgating passes should approach Gate 1 from Brambleton Avenue.
- Remember that Gate 8 is the only point of entry for general on-campus parking until 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
- Anticipate road closures and significant traffic delays.
- Arrive early.
- Have tickets and credentials ready before approaching campus.
- Review the Clear Bag Policy before leaving home.
