HRBT Scheduled Closures

The Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel (HRBT) is scheduled for full directional weekend closures starting tonight, October 2nd, 2026, for critical tunnel roadway repaving. Each directional closure runs from 9:00 p.m. Friday through 5:00 a.m. Monday, with the opposite direction remaining open to traffic.
Scheduled Closures
- Westbound toward Hampton (First Weekend): Friday, Oct. 2 at 9:00 p.m. through Monday, Oct. 5 at 5:00 a.m. (Details via VDOT)
- Westbound toward Hampton (Second Weekend – If Needed): Friday, Oct. 9 at 9:00 p.m. through Monday, Oct. 12 at 5:00 a.m.
- Eastbound toward Norfolk (First Weekend): Friday, Oct. 16 at 9:00 p.m. through Monday, Oct. 19 at 5:00 a.m.
- Eastbound toward Norfolk (Second Weekend – If Needed): Friday, Oct. 30 at 9:00 p.m. through Monday, Nov. 2 at 5:00 a.m.
Travel Advice & Alternate Routes
- Alternate Route: Motorists are advised to use the Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel (I-664) as an alternate route during these weekend closures.
