Norfolk, VA — The Fresh Start Morning Show hit the airwaves of WNSB-FM on January 3, 2023. Veteran radio personality “DJ Bee” took over mornings at Norfolk State University’s radio station, WNSB / HOT 91.1 FM.

“Fresh Start” Morning Show will feature DJ Bee and Cheryl Wilkerson who collectively have over five decades of radio broadcasting experience, along with next generation broadcasters, graduate students; Braxton Harris and Sam Burwell. The live and local morning show will be upbeat and interactive with morning mixes, daily contesting, entertainment news, and more.

The accomplished turntablist is a Philly native who loves radio, music, and cheesesteaks. DJ Bee, also known as Beesus, comes to WNSB with over 25 years behind the 1200s and on the airwaves. Bee launched Fresh Radio, an international internet-based radio station, in 2010, and opened Freshtopia VA record store in Norfolk in 2019.

We are incredibly fortunate to work with such a dynamic personality. DJ Bee gives our station true credibility in the culture and is a tremendous wealth of knowledge for the students,” says Maynard Scales, general manager of WNSB.

DJ Bee adds, “I am honored to continue my radio broadcast career at a HBCU. This next chapter with WNSB and Norfolk State University will be extremely special. NSU, like many other HBCUs, is at the center of Black culture, and I am excited to be a part of that experience.”

Tune into the Fresh Start Morning Show, Monday through Friday, from 6:00 am to 10:00 am. You may also listen on the WNSB free mobile app.
