Region/state roundup: Norfolk State men, women run to MEAC team, individual crowns

Norfolk State took both Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference team championships Saturday. It was the fourth consecutive time and 16th overall for the Spartans’ men.
Junior Gidion Sigei won the men’s individual title for the second consecutive year, finishing the 8-kilometer course in Smyrna, Delaware, in 24 minutes, 39.1 seconds — 24.8 seconds ahead of the next finisher. The time was just three-tenths of a second slower than his historic performance in last year’s MEAC meet.
