In the April 21, 2026 special election in Virginia, voters are being asked whether to amend the state constitution to temporarily change how congressional voting districts are handled.
Currently, districts are redrawn once every 10 years by an independent redistricting commission. This amendment would allow the state lawmakers to redraw some districts earlier—before 2031—but only if another state does the same outside the normal process.
A “yes” vote allows this temporary change and would put a new district map in place for upcoming elections. A “no” vote keeps the current system and existing district maps unchanged. Find more information and let your voice be heard here!
