This year’s event also brought in community partners, including Norfolk State University’s radio station, WNSB Hot 91.
Maynard Scales, the station’s general manager, said their role goes beyond the event itself, helping amplify the message across the community.
“We’re making sure people have a great place to work and live. It’s important to make sure we have a prosperous, healthy community that all can enjoy,” Scales said.
The cleanup initiative runs from March through the end of May and is part of a broader push tied to America’s upcoming 250th birthday celebration.
