Black Cheerleader Kicked Off Team Because Of Her Hair

An 11-year old Black cheerleader in Colorado was not allowed to compete with her cheering squad because of her natural hair. The child’s mother, Tiyana Young said her daughter, Neimah, was asked to wear a ponytail by the owner of the cheering squad to match her white and Latina teammates. The cheerleader was eventually kicked off the team for not wearing it. Some other parents believe Young is overreacting over the dismissal of her daughter from the team. The owner of Diamond Elite All-Star Cheerleading, Stephanie Trujillo, says Neimah was kicked off the team after her mom made threats.
